Ricky Burns retains his title with a unanimous decision in a great fight. Kiryl Relik will win a world title.
Kiryl Relik walked to the ring looking up for it. Ricky Burns walked to the ring looking relaxed and he seem to be enjoying the atmosphere in the arena.
The 1st round was very cagey but Relikh looked to be having the better of it because he was landing the better quality punches. At the start of the 2nd Relikh came out on the front foot and he looked to be growing in confidents Burns couldn’t find his range or sustain an attack. At the start of the 3rd Burns tried to launch an attack but he was falling into it and Relikh was just picking Burns off, by the end of the round Burns did start to land some good punches. In the 4th Burns looked like he’d found his range and started to work behind the jab. It looked like a lot of Relikh punches where starting to fall short in the 5th Burns had Relikh pinned on the ropes but Relikh still looked like he had plenty of energy.
Going into the second half of the fight I had Burns up by 1 but it was a close fight. The 7th was a fairly even round with both men having their share of success but Burns edged it, and Relikh was starting to look tired. In the 8th Burns jab was working well and Burns was starting to pick Reilkh off at will. At the start of the 9th Reilkh tried to throw shots but they where falling short or hitting Burns arms Relikh looked out of ideas. So into the championship rounds we go its gut check time Reilkh started the 10th brightly but still the quality punches coming from Burns, but then Reilkh rocked Burns more than once to take the round. In the 11th Reilkh landed some really good shots, but then Burns started to pick Reilkh off but then with 1 minute to go Reilkh rocked Burns and he looked ready to go.
Going into the 12th I had Burns up by 1 but it was close. Reilkh won the 12th round on my card. At the final bell I had it a draw and it’s a fight I would love to see again!
Dilian Whyte V Ian Lewison
Dillian Whyte out classed Ian Lewison to win the British title with a 10th round stoppage.
Walking to the ring Ian Lewison looked very focused. Dillian Whyte also walked to the ring looking very focused.
In the 1st round both men where trying to get on the front foot and Lewison came out swinging but Whyte was landing the better quality punches Lewison just looked like a fat man looking for one big shot. The 2nd round started the same as the 1st with Whyte landing the better punches and Lewison just looking for one big haymaker. At the start of the 3rd it looked like Lewison was trying to work behind his jab and box, but Whyte was still having the better of it. It looked like the boxer against the brawler. The 4th started slowly but when Whyte landed Lewison looked like he was running out of steam. In the 5th Lewison did land some good shots at the start of the round but it looked like Whyte could just take it, but Whyte was still landing the better shots
Going into the second half of the fight I had Whyte up by 4. In the 6th Whyte looked to be trying to land more powerful shots and Lewison looked like he didn’t have much left. In the 7th not much happened but Lewison looked uncomfortable in there and he’d got a cut on his eye. If Whyte was to step it up he could get Lewison out of there. In the 8th Whyte was landing some good punches but Lewison just smiled and kept coming. In the 9th both men came out swinging and they went toe 2 toe at the start, but then it slow down and Lewison did land a good attack. In the 10th Lewison looked in trouble it looked like his nose had gone, and it looked like Whyte could land at will. At the end of the 10th Lewison’s corner pulled him out.
Scotty Cardle V Kevin Hooper
Scotty Cardle out classed Kevin Hooper with a 6th round stoppage.
Walking to the ring Kevin Hooper looked confident and ready to go. Scotty Cardle walked to the ring with a face like stone, he looked like a man who knew he’d got a fight on his hands.
In the 1st round Hooper came out on the front foot working well behind his jab, but it was quite a cagey round. By the end of the round Cardle was trying to land big shots but he was smothering his work. In the 2nd Cardle was landing the better quality punches Hooper looked like he couldn’t time his shots. Towards the end of the round Hooper did have some success. The 3rd started a bit slower and at the start of the round Hooper was landing some good shots, but it didn’t look like he had the power to hurt Cardle. The 4th started slowly but Cardle was still having the better of it, but you could see Hooper was getting back in to it. However by this point Hooper did have a bad cut on his eye. In the 5th Cardle looked well in control midway through Cardle rocked Hooper and he look ready to go, and Hooper had to hold.
Going into the second half of the fight I had Cardle winning everything he just looked to good for Hooper. The 6th started slowly but then Cardle launched a big attack and there was nothing Hooper could do, so with 1 minute 56 seconds gone Cardle landed a big right hand and the referee had no choice but to stop the fight
Kieran Smith wins with an 18 seconds stoppage in the 1st round to take his record to 7-0
