Fight Night Preview 7th October 2016

fight night, preview
Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. On Friday night The SSE Hydro in Glasgow will host a night of championship boxing. All the action is live on Sky Sports 2 from 8pm.

Ricky Burns V Kiryl Relikh

On Friday night Ricky Burns will be making the 1st defence of his WBA super lightweight title that he won in May. He comes into this fight with a record of 40-5-1 with 14 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights,3 of them by knockout. He has done well to rebuild his career after those three shock defeats against Omar Figeroa Jr, Dejan Zlaticanin and Terence Crawford back in 2014-15. In his last fight he beat Michele Di Rocco with an 8th round knockout to become the world champion again.

Kiryl Relikh comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 21-0 with 19 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 fights all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Joaquim Carneiro with a 4th round knockout. He is also no stranger to fighting in the UK because he has fought here twice before, but not on this scale.

I think Ricky Burns will win this one on points or by late stoppage. There is no questioning Relikh carries punching power, but he has never fought anyone the calibre of Ricky Burns before. However if Ricky does lose I am not sure where his career could go from here.

Dilian Whyte V Ian Lewison

Dillian Whyte will be looking to complete the rebuild of his career when he fights for the vacant British title.   Dillian goes into this fight with a record of 18-1 with 14 knockouts. He has won 5 out his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat David Allen on points with a unanimous decision in a very boring fight.

Ian Lewison comes into this fight with a record of 12-2-1 with 8 knockouts his won all of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat Zhi Yu Wu with a 2nd round knockout.

This could be a real 50/50 fight as we have two fighters with similar careers and records with a point to prove, however I do think Whyte will win on points, I just hope it’s a better fight from him than his last time out.

Scotty Cardle V Kevin Hooper

Scotty Cardle goes into this fight with a undefeated record of 20-0-1 he has won 5 out of his last 6 , 3 of them by knockout  with one draw.  In his last fight he beat Ivan Njgac on points.

Kevin Hopper comes into this fight with a record of 19-3 with 4 Knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, but only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Adam Dingsdale with a unanimous decision, to set up this fight.

I think Cardle will win on points or by a late stoppage,as he has more experience than Hooper and he has fought as a higher level than Hooper.
