Fight Night Preview 25th June 2016

fight night, preview
Ok fight fans it’s that time again, on Saturday night The O2 will play host to a big night of boxing. All the action is live on Skysports Boxoffice from 8pm

Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale

There is only one place to start this preview and that’s with Anthony Joshua’s  first world title defence against American Dominic Breazeale.

Joshua won the title back in April with a 2nd round knockout of Charles Martin. He goes into this fight with a record of16-0 with 16 knockouts

Breazeale has a very similar record to Joshua 17-0 with 15 knockouts but he has been taken the distance twice. In his last fight he beat Amir Mansour with a 5th round knockout. However this will be his first fight outside of America and probably one of the biggest crowds his ever fought In front of and you never know how that will affect a fighter.

So these are two young and hungry fighters and somebody 0 has got to go! I think Joshua will win by knockout in the middle rounds to retain his title and keep his knockout run going.

George Groves v Martin Murray

On paper this fight could be fight of the night because we have to fighters putting their careers on the line for one more shot at the title.

Groves goes in to this fight with a.record of 23-3 with 16 knockouts however he has also been knocked out twice both to Carl Froch. He has also only won 4 out of his last 6 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat a very overmatched David Brophy in the 4th round back in April.  He has also lost 3 times and on all 3 occasions they where world title fights which begs the question is he good enough to be at world level.

Martin Murray goes into this fight with a record of 33-3-1 with 16 knockouts he has also been knocked out once. His recent form is very similar to Groves because he has also only won 4 out of his last 6 fights however he has won all of them by knockout. He has also lost 3 time and all where at world level which means like Groves you have to ask the question is he good enough to be at world level.

This is a real 50/50 fight and for both men it could be a career defining fight the winner will go on to a title shot for the WBA belt against Felix Sturm, for the loser where do they go next? Whoever wins it will probably be on points.

Chris Eubank JR v Tom Doran

This will be Chris Eubank’s first defence of the title that he won from Nick Blackwell with a 10th round knockout in his last fight. He goes into this fight with a record of 22-1 with 17 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6 all of them by knockout his only loss came back in 2014 when he lost a tight split decision to Billy Joe Saunders.

Tom Dorn comes into this fight undefeated will a record of 17-0 but with only 7 knockouts in his last fight he beat Luke Keeler with a 2nd round knockout, which is how he got this shot at the British title .

I think Eubank will win by knockout in the early to middle rounds because no disrespect to Dorn but Eubank has been fighting at a much higher level. However if Dorn can get into the later rounds he may have a chance as Eubanks work rate has been known to drop in the later rounds of fights and he often drops his hands in the back end of fights

Conor Benn v Lukas Radic

Conor Benn looks to continue his good start to his professional career this should be a good workout for Benn but an easy win.

Dillian Whyte v Ivica Bacurin

Dillian Whyte will be looking to starts the rebuilding process as this will be his first fight back since he lost to Anthony Joshua at the back end of last year. So he goes into this fight with a record of 16-1 with 13 knockouts he has won 5 out of his last 6 all of them by knockout.

Ivica Bacurin comes into this fight with a  record of 25-9-1 with 15 knockouts however he has also been knocked out 3 times.  He has won 4 out of his last 6 all 4 by knockout. If your thinking why dose his name sound familiar it’s because he lost to Tony Bellew in 2015.

I think Whyte will win as he is a natural heavyweight and Bacurin dose not travel well I also think it will be a knockout win as Whyte will be looking to prove a point after the loss to Joshua.

John Wayne Hibbert v Andrea Scarpa

John Wayne Hibbert goes into this fight with a record of 17-3 with 11 knockouts he’s won 5 out of his last 6 all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Tommy Martin with a dramatic 12th round knockout.

Andrea Scarpa comes into this fight with a record of 19-2 with 9 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 fights but only 1 of them by knockout. This fight will be his first outside of Italy.

I think this will be a close fight probably won on points who ever win will be one step closer to a world title fight.
