In October 2016 he decided to give up all his world titles saying that he was under a lot of pressure and he needed some medical help for depression, and he wanted to spend more time with his family. However many people believe that he would have been stripped of the titles anyway after he failed a drug test that proved positive for cocaine, because of this The British Boxing Board of Control revoked his boxing license. This looked like the end of his boxing career.
In December last year his uncle and trainer Peter Fury tweeted that he was back in training and will be coming back in the spring this year. On Monday of last week Fury tweeted that he had got a BUI (Boxing union of Ireland) license and he didn’t want anything to do with the British Boxing Board of Control and he will be making his comeback on the Josh Warrington undercard in May. However at the time of writing this post the BUI have said they have not heard from Fury or any member of his team. So at the moment he still doesn’t have a license. The British Boxing Board of Control have also said that they have had no contact with him since his ban, and they will not sanction his fight in May.
So it looks unlikely that he will comeback in May, but even if he does sort out his licensing issues, and if or when he comes back should he be allowed to? In the ring he he’s a very good boxer who is a match for any fighter in the heavyweight division. However outside the ring his career has been dogged with controversy, from comments he has made about his own sister, he has also defended the use of performance enhancing drugs in boxing. He has also expressed a number a racist and sexist views over the years. Most recently he voiced his opinion on transgenderism, as well as bestiality and rape going as far as to say they should be legalised he did apologies for all these instances.
Now I understand that everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions but when you are a public figure and a role model you should really keep your opinions to yourself. As a boxing fan I love to see boxing in the news but I want to see it in the news for the right reasons and not because someone has brought our sport into disrepute, because it’s bad for the sport and we all get tarred with the same brush. So is Tyson Fury the sort of person we want representing our sport.
No he should not be allowed to fight again, when he won we all thought great some one has won in Germany happy days but seance then the has been a joke and embarrassing to himself and to boxing best for all if he never came back.
Thanks the comment and your continued support
