Fight Night Preview 15th October 2015

fight night, preview
Ok fight fans it’s that time again. This week the Echo Arena Liverpool  is hosting a packed night of boxing, all the action is spread over two channels Sky Sports 3 from 6pm and then  Sky Sports 2 from 8pm

Tony Bellew V BJ Flores

Tony Bellew will be making the 1st defence of his world title that he won on that historic night at Goodison Park back in May.  He goes into this fight with a record of 27-2-1 with 17 Knockouts. He has won all of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he came off the floor to beat Liunge Makabu with a 3rd round knockout, to win the world title.

BJ Flores comes into this fight with a record of 32-2-1 with 20 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Roberto Santos on points with a unanimous decision. This is going to be a big fight for Flores because not only is it his 1st fight for a world title, it is also his 1st fight outside of the USA and you never know how that will effect a fighter.

The edge in power and experience has to go to Flores but he has never fought at this level against someone the calibre of Bellew. So I think Bellew will win by knockout in the middle rounds.

Luke Campbell V Derry Mathews

Luke Campbell will be looking to continue rebuilding after that shock defeat to Yvan Mendy at the back end of last year. He goes into this fight with a record of 14-1 with 11 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat Argenis Mendez on points with a unanimous decision.

Derry Matthews will be looking to get his career back on track after losing last time out to Terry Flanagan by a unanimous decision in their world title fight . He goes into this fight with a record of 38-10-2 with 20 knockouts he’s won 4 out of his last 6, but only won one of them by knockout.

This one could be a close fight but I think Campbell will edge it on points, whoever wins could have a world title shot in their future as this fight is for the WBC Silver title.

Ryan Burnett V Ryan Farrag

Ryan Burnett comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 14-0 with 9 knockouts.  He has won all of his last 6, 2 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Cesar Ramierez with a unanimous decision to set up this fight for the British title.

Ryan Farrag comes into this fight with a record of 16-2 with 4 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Elvis Guillen on points.

The winner of this one will become the new British champion, I think Burnett will win it on points, but whoever wins it will probably be on points as nether men seems to carry knockout power.

Also on the bill:

Sean Dodd

Rocky Fielding

Tom Farrell
