Hart brake for Anthony Crolla as he loses a unanimous decision, but what fight were the judges watching there’s no way he lost that fight by 9 rounds.
The arena was rocking as Anthony Crolla walked to the ring. Jorge Linares was greeted by a hostile reception but it didn’t seem to bother him.
In the 1st round both men came out looking to work off the jab it was a very close round with nothing to split them. The 2nd started slowly but you could see the fight was starting to warm up,as both men started to throw shots. In the 3rd round Crolla came out looking to land shots, I think he knows the only way he’s going to win this fight is if he makes Linares work for 3 minutes of every round. At the start of the 4th it looked like Crolla was trying to stay on the front foot, and he was landing some nice shots that won’t knock Linares out but they should catch the eye of the judges. Crolla continues were he left off by making Linares move and work. Ok Linares may be throwing more but Crolla is landing more.
Going into the second half of the fight I had Crolla up by 2 but you could have it closer one thing’s for sure its a very entertaining fight. Midd way through the 6th Crolla landed some good shots to Linares on the ropes. In the 7th Crolla continues to push Linares Back, but then out of no were Crolla hits the canvas off a nice body shot but he bravely beat the count. At the start of the 8th knowing he needed something special to get back in the fight Crolla came out throwing bombs more than once rocking Linares. In the 9th Crolla continues to box beautifully but I still think he needs a knock down of his own.
Going into the championship rounds I had Crolla 1 up but who wants it more. In the 10th Crolla continues to tee off, it looked like he was growing in confidence because he knew that he can take Linares best shots and get back up. The 11th started slowly it looked like both men were feeling the pace.
Going into the final round I still had Crolla 1 up, but it could go either way. In the 12th Crolla threw everything but the kitchen sink at Linares but will it be enough
Martin J Ward V Maxi Hughes
A controversial unanimous decision robs Maxi Hughes.
Maxi Hughes walked to the ring looking ready to go. Martin J Ward walked to the ring looking very confident.
In the 1st round Ward came out trying to land shots, and Hughes was trying to work off the jab. It was an even round but I think Ward just edged it with the better quality punches. The 2nd was another close round but Ward was still landing the better looking shots. Toward the end of the round Hughes did land some painful looking shots. At the start of the 3rd you could see that Hughes was growing into the fight and a lot of Wards shots where falling short. At the start of the 4th both men came out looking to land shots, it was a bit of a scrappy round with nothing much to split them. In the 5th it looked like Ward had gone back to his boxing skills and he seem to be having some success.
Going into the second half of the fight I had Ward up by 1 but you could score it ether way. In the 6th again both men were looking for the big shot, and for the first time in the fight it looked like Hughes was getting on top. The 7th was another close round with both men having success, I think Hughes may have just edged it. At the start of the 8th it looked like both men had gone back to their boxing skills at this point in the fight the better punches where coming from Hughes and Ward was starting to look out of steam. In the 9th all the quality punches where coming from Hughes, and it was starting to look like Ward had no answer. In the 10th Hughes was picking his shots and all Ward could do was clinch and hold. In the 11th Ward tried to land shots, but Hughes did a very good job of making him miss and look silly and then picking him off.
Going into the final round I had Hughes up by 3 and the only way Ward was going to win would be by knockout and despite his good start I couldn’t see that happening. In the 12th it was all Hughes I don’t think Ward landed a meaningful punch in the round. At the bell I had it to Hughes by 4.
Brian Rose V Jack Arnfield
Jack Arnfield wins by unanimous decision in one of the most boring fights I have ever seen.
Walking to the ring Brian Rose looked like a man who knew his career was on the line. Jack Arnfield looked up for it and ready to go.
The 1st round was very cagey it was just a feeling out round with nothing to split them. The 2nd round started very much the same as the 1st, even though these two don’t like one another you can see they have respect for one another. The 3rd round started the same as the first and the crowd was getting restless, and a fight that I was looking forward to was sending me to sleep. We are 3 rounds in and nether men has thrown anything. In the 4th round it looked like Arnfield was trying to work off the jab, but it was more like a dancing match than a boxing match. It took till the 5th round for us to see any action but it didn’t last long.
Going into the second half of the fight I couldn’t score it because nothing has happened, this match is a disgrace. The 6th was the same as the rest of the fight dull and boring. Finally at the start of the 7th both men landed some shots, but then all too quickly normal service resumed. At the start of the 8th Arnfield did try and start an attack, but once again it was over before it began. The 9th was the same as the rest of the fight I’m sorry if I sound like a broken record but that’s all I can say. Sorry but there’s nothing I could write about the 10th that I haven’t said before, and I’m getting bored of writing it so you must be getting bored of reading it.
Going into the final round I still can’t tell you who’s winning, but if I had to pick a winner I would say Arnfield
Marcus Morrison V Jason Welborn
Jason Welborn comes off the canvas to put in a career best performance to win by unanimous decision.
Walking to the ring Jason Welborn looked fit and up for it. Marcus Morrison seemed to be loving having the home crowd behind him.
In the 1st round Morrison came out working well off the jab, but you can see that Welborn is a good fighter. At the start of the 2nd Morrison came out trying to land big shots. Toward the end of the round Welborn hit the canvas but bravely beat the count, but it looks like a matter of time. At the start of the 3rd Morrison continued with his boxing skills and was working well off the jab. In the 4th Welborn came out throwing shots and more than once he rocked Morrison. At the start of the 5th Welborn came out looking to continue were he left off. At the end of the round Wellborn had Morrison pinned on the ropes.
Going into the second half of the fight I had Morrison up but only because of the knockdown. The 6th was a bit of a scrappy round I think both where feeling the pace. Toward the end of the round however Welborn rocked Morrison and I think he was saved by the bell. In the 7th Welborn continues to land painful looking shots and more than once it looked like the referee was going to stop it. In the 8th Morrison started well off the jab but he didn’t seem able to keep up the pressure for the hole round, which is when Welborn would take over. In the 9th Wellborn came out looking to use his boxing skills. Midd way through the round Welborn pinned Morrison on the ropes again and started to tee off.
Going into the final round I had Welborn up by 3 and I couldn’t see anyway Morrison could win apart from a knockout that was looking less and less likely. At the final bell I gave it to Welborn by 4.
