Fight Night Preview for Saturday 26 March 2016

fight night, review

Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again there are two big fights on Saturday night.

Kell Brook Vs Kevin Bizier

First we have Kell Brook vs Kevin Bizier at the Sheffield arena which is live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm.  This will be Kell’s 3rd defence of his IBF world title that he won from Shawn Porter back in 2014.  In his last fight Kell knocked out Frankie Gavin in the 6th round.

For those of you who don’t know much about Kevin Bizier he is an orthodox fighter from Canada, with a record of 27-2 with 16 knockouts. The only two blots on his record came against Jo Jo Dan both in 2014. However as I am sure you can remember Brook beat Dan in the 1st defence of his title in 2015 with a 4th round knockout. In his last fight Bizier beat Fredrick Lawson with a 10th round knockout, in an eliminator for Brook’s world title in 2015.

I have heard people say why is Kell Brook fighting someone like Kevin Bizier, the main reason is the fact that he won the right to fight Brook in he’s last fight, by winning the eliminator. The second reason I can see is that Kell needs to fight or he runs the risk of been stripped of the title. Yes we would all love to see Kell Brook fight Amir Khan, and I’m sure that flight will happen at some point but until then Kevin Bizier is a big name in the welterweight division.

I have read a lot on social media in the last few days people saying it will be an easy win for Brook but as any boxing fan knows there is no such thing as an easy win in boxing, and people saying that it will be are showing Kevin Bizier a great disrespect.

Ok let’s break it down on paper Brook has fought at a higher level against better opponents then Kevin Bizier.  He is also undefeated and has a higher knockout percentage. This does not mean that we should underestimate Kevin Bizier, he is fighting away from home and no one is giving him a chance.  Yes he’s lost twice but you don’t get to world level without knowing how to fight.

Having said that I do think Kell will win and I think it will be a knockout, but I don’t think it will be as easy as many people do.

Nick Blackwell vs Chris Eubank Jr

There is a much anticipated domestic fight for the British Middleweight Title at Wembley arena and live on Channel 5 from 9.40pm.

This will be Nick Blackwell’s 3rd defence of his title, since he won it in 2014 beating John Ryder by knockout in the 7th round. However although he is the champion he goes into the fight a big underdog. This could be because of his record out 23 fights he’s lost 3 drawn 1 and he only has 8 knockouts.

Chris Eubank Jr on the other hand is a big and powerful middleweight with a record of 22-1 with 16 knockouts he’s only defeat came in a close points lose to Billy Joe Saunders in 2014. Since then however he has won his last 3 fights by knockout most recently beating Gary “Spike” O’ Sullivan in the 7th round in 2015.

Most people think this is going to be a tight close fight but I don’t think that Blackwell can cope with Eubanks power so I think Eubank will win by Knockout in the middle rounds.
