Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. We start this week on Saturday night with a packed night of action from Monaco, all the action is live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm.
Dmitry Bivol V Trent Broadhurst
This fight will be Dmitry Bivol’s first defence of his world title, and he comes into this fight with a perfect record of 11-0 with 9 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Cedric Agnew with a 4th round knockout.
Trent Broadhurst comes into this fight with a record of 20-1 with 12 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. The only blot on his record came back in 2012 when he lost to Robert Berridge when he was knocked out in the 5th round. In his last fight he beat Naser Hamdan with a 3rd round knockout
This fight could be a difficult one there’s no question that Broadhurst has far more experience but Bivol has fought the better quality opponents. So I can see Bivol winning this one on points.
Jamie McDonnell V Liborio Solis
This is a rematch that had to happen when the pair met last time I had Solis winning it by 3 rounds, and I couldn’t make a case for McDonnell winning it but somehow he did.
This fight will be Jamie McDonnell’s 6th defence of his world title and he comes into this fight with a record of 29-2-1 with 13 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he got that controversial unanimous decision over Solis in their first fight.
Liborio Solis comes into this fight with a record of 25-5-1 with 11 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6, but only 1 of them by knockout. Last time out he lost to Jamie McDonnell in their first fight.
Based on their first fight I think both men will come out looking to make a statement because, McDonnell will want to prove that he rightly won their first fight. I think Solis will look to get off to a fast start to make sure his punches do catch the eye of the judges. Whatever happens I think it will be a close fight and McDonnell will just edge it.
Scott Quigg V Oleg Yefimovich
Scott Quigg comes into this fight with a record of 33-1-2 with 24 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights,3 of them by knockout. He seems to have a new lease of life under his new trainer Freddie Roach. In his last fight he won by unanimous decision over Viorel Simion
Oleg Yefimovich comes into this fight with a record of 29-2-1 with 16 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout with 1 draw. In his last fight he beat Urbano Giuliani with a 7th round knockout, to help set up this fight.
This is going to be another close fight but I think Quigg’s hand speed and power will be too much for Yefimovich, and he will win it on points or by late stoppage. Whoever wins this fight it should put them next in line for a shot at Abner Mares as this fight is an eliminator for his title.
Agit Kabayel V Dereck Chisora
Agit Kabayel comes into this fight with an undefeated record of 16-0 with 12 knockouts. This fight will be his first defence of his European title that he won last time out. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, all of them by knockout.
Dereck Chisora comes into this fight with a record of 27-7 with 19 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Robert Fillipovic with a 5th round knockout.
I think Kabayel is the better boxer out of the two and I can see him winning this one on points or by late stoppage. If Chisora does lose you have to ask were does he go from here.
Enjoy the fights and Comment below and let me know your predictions.
