Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. This week we are in Cardiff for another JDNTEN Show. All the action is live of Sky Sports Mix from 7pm.
Joe Cordina V Sean Dodd
This fight is for the vacant Commonwealth title. Joe Cordina comes into this fight looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career as he comes into this fight with a record of 7-0 with 6 knockouts. He’s knocked out all but one of his opponents in his last fight he knocked out Hakim Ben Ali in the 3rd round.
Sean Dodd comes into this title fight with a record of 15-3-1 with 3 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, but only one of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost the Commonwealth title after been knocked out by Tommy Coyle in the 6th round.
On paper many people would see this fight as a bit of a miss match, but that’s why fights are not fought on paper. Although vastly more experienced then Cordina you still have to make Cordina the favourite. Due to the fact that he’s only 26 and his got incredible hand speed and the power to go with it. However Dodd is a very skilful boxer and if he can keep the fight at distance he might be able to win on points. If he tries to go toe to toe with Cordina then I can see him getting knocked out inside 6 rounds. If Dodd does lose this fight I really think he should hang up the gloves cause at 34 I don’t know where he goes from here.
Natasha Jonas V Viviane Obenauf
This fight will be Natasha Jonas’s 1st defence of her WBA International title, she comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 6-0 with 5 knockouts. She’s knocked out all but one of her opponents. In her last fight she knocked out Taoussy L’ Hadji in the 7th round to win the title.
Viviane Obenauf comes into this fight with a record of 12-4 with 6 knockouts. She has only won 3 out of her last 6 fights, 2 of them by knockout. In her last fight she was stopped in the 6th round by Chantelle Cameron.
This fight should be an easy win for Jonas as she is the far superior boxer to Obenauf. However Obenauf does have a lot more experience, but I don’t think she has the boxing skills to keep Jonas off her for the whole fight. So I can see Jonas winning on points or by late stoppage. If she does win this fight she will take one step closer to taking on Jelena Mrdjenovich for the WBA world title.
Daniyar Yeleussinov V Gabor Gorbics
Daniyar Yeleussinov will want to continue his perfect start to his professional career as he comes into this fight with a record of 2-0 with 1 knockout. In his last fight he won on points over an overmatched Zoltan Szabo
Gabor Gorbics comes into this fight with a record of 24-11 with 14 knockouts. He’s only won 1 of his last 6 fights and that was a split decision victory. Last time out he lost a unanimous decision to Shakhram Giyasov on his professional debut.
This is a good fight for Yeleussinov because it will give him a chance to showcase his skills against an opponent who should be able to take him a few rounds, I think he will go looking for the knockout.
Also on the bill:
Sean McGoldrick and Anthony Sims Jr but at the time of writing this preview their opponents had not been confirmed.
Hope you enjoy the fights and please comment below and let me know your predictions.
