Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. This week we are in London at The Copper Box Arena for a night of championship boxing, all the action will be live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm.
John Ryder V Andrey Sirotkin
This fight is an eliminator for the WBA Super Middleweight title, John Ryder comes into this fight with a record of 26-4 with 14 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights, but only 2 of those wins came by knockout. In his last fight he knocked out Jamie Cox in the 2nd round.
Andrey Sirotkin comes into this title eliminator with a perfect professional record of 15-0 with 4 knockouts. He’s knocked out 2 of his last 6 opponents, in his last fight he won a unanimous decision over Ryan Ford to successfully defend his WBA intercontinental title.
This one could be a real 50/50 but I think you have to make Ryder a slight favourite because he’s had more fights and he’s fighting in front of his hometown crowd. I think that if Ryder can make a fast start he might get the stoppage in the middle rounds. However if Sirotkin can use his boxing skills I can see him winning it on points.
Ted Cheeseman V Asinia Byfield
This fight is for the British title, Ted Cheeseman comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 14-0 with 9 knockouts. He’s knocked out 3 of his last 6 opponents, in his last fight he knocked out Paul Upton in the 4th round to retain his WBA international title.
Asinia Byfield comes into this title fight with a record of 14-1 with 6 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. Last time out he knocked out Gabor Gorbics in the 5th round to retain his Southern Area title.
This one could be another close fight because we’ve got two fighters with similar records and at similar points in their careers. However I think you have to make Cheeseman the favourite for this one because he’s fought at a higher level and he carries more power. So although it’s going to be a close fight I think Cheeseman will get the stoppage in the middle to late rounds. I think Byfield’s best chance of winning is to keep the fight at range and not let Cheeseman get on the inside because he is a big body puncher.
Ryan Doyle V Jordan Gill
This fight will be Ryan Doyle’s 1st defence of his Commonwealth title, he comes into this fight with a record of 17-2-1 with 9 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights but only 2 of those wins came by knockout. In his last fight he knocked out Reece Bellotti in the 5th round to win the Commonwealth title.
Jordan Gill comes into this title fight with a perfect record of 21-0 with 5 knockouts. He’s knocked out 2 of his last 6 opponents, in his last fight he stopped David Berna in the opening round to set up this title fight.
You have to make Doyle favourite for this one because he’s the defending champion and he’s fought at a higher level. However I can see this one been a fight for the boxing purist among us because this fight could go the distance, with Doyle winning it on points.
Isaac Chamberlain V Luke Watkins
This fight will be Isaac Chamberlain’s first fight back since he lost his undefeated record to his rival Lawrence Okolie. He comes into this fight with a record of 9-1 with 4 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost a unanimous decision to his arch rival Lawrence Okolie in a fight that I think everyone in British boxing would love to see again in the future.
Luke Watkins comes into this fight with a record of 13-1 with 9 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. Like Chamberlain in his last fight he also lost to Lawrence Okolie but unlike Chamberlain he was knocked out in the 3rd round.
This could be a really good fight because both men have a point to prove as they are both coming off a loss. This could be a very tight fight but I think Chamberlain might just edge it either on points or by a very late stoppage.
Hope you enjoy all the action and please comment below and let me know your predictions. Unfortunately there will be no review as I’m going to a small hall show.
