Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time, this week we are in the Makkah of boxing Madison Square Garden for a packed night of action. All the action is live on Sky Sports Main Event from 3am Sunday Morning.
Sergey Kovalov V Vyacheslav Shabranskyy
This fight is for the vacant WBO Light-Heavyweight title. Sergey Kovalov comes into this with a record of 30-2-1 with 26 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights, but only 1 of them by knockout. However he’s currently coming off of back to back defeats both of them to Andre Ward
Vyacheslav Shabranskyy comes into this his first world title fight with a record of 19-1 with 16 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Todd Unthank May with a 7th round stoppage, which help set up this title fight.
You have to make Kovalov the clear favourite in this one because he’s been there seen it and done it. However you have to wonder how much has he got left after those two losses to Andre Ward. I think he will look for the stoppage early to show the world he’s still got plenty to offer. However if Shabranskyy does win you have to wonder if Kovalov’s career can take 3 straight defeats.
Sullivan Barrera V Felix Valera
Sullivan Barrera comes into this fight with a record of 20-1 with 14 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Joe Smith Jr by unanimous decision.
Felix Valera comes into this fight with a record of 15-1 with 13 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, but only 2 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Andy Perez with a 3rd round knockout.
I think this could be a very close fight we know that both men can punch, but I think this fight is going to come down to who can use their boxing skills better. However I do think their styles should gel well which should make it an entertaining fight to watch.
Jason Sosa V Yuriokis Gamboa
Jason Sosa comes into this fight with a record 20-2-4 with 15 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights, only 2 of them by knockout with 1 loss and 1 draw. In his last fight he lost to Vastyl Lomachenko in their world title fight with a 9th round knockout.
Yuriokis Gamboa comes into this fight with a record of 27-2 with 17 knockouts. However his recent forms has been a bit hit and miss as he has only won 4 out of his last 6 fights, only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Alexis Reyes with a split decision.
I think Sosa is favourite for this one, but I think it’s going to be a close fight but Sosa will win by late stoppage due to the fact that he’s fought at a much higher level. However I think Gamboa is going to make it a tough fight, although if he does loose you have to wonder were does his career go from here
Enjoy the fights and comment below and let me know your predictions.
