Fight Night Preview 23rd June 2017

fight night, preview

Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time this week we are in Newcastle to see what the young guns can do. All the action is live on Friday from 9pm on Sky Sports 2.

Josh Kelly V Tom Whitfield

Josh Kelly will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career as he headlines the show. He comes into this fight with a record of 2-0. He won his last fight by knockout against Jony Vina who was previously undefeated.

Tom Whitfield comes into this fight with a record of 4-1, with no knockouts. He will be looking to get his career back on track after he was knocked out last time out by Daniel Copes.

I think this is a good fight for both fighters because we’ve got two fighters both at the start of their careers, and both with a point to prove. I do think Kelly will win this one by knockout, or he might want to get some rounds in his legs so he may choose just to box. I don’t think Whitfield can stand up to Kelly’s power or hand speed, and if Whitfield does loose you have to wonder at the age of 30 were will his career go from here. Whoever wins its nice to see two inexperience fighters not just fighting journeymen.

Anthony Fowler V Nikoloz Gvajva

Anthony Fowler will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career after he made his debut on the Kell Brook bill back in May. One thing he will have to watch not only in this fight but as his career progressives is his aggression because in his first fight he was lucky not to get disqualified as he continued to punch his opponent when he was on the floor.

Nikoloz Gvajva comes into this fight with a record of 9-6-1 with 7 knockouts. He has been on a terrible run of form recently having suffered 4 back to back losses. In his last fight he was stopped by Rubén Diaz in the 4th round.

I can only see one winner in this one I don’t think Gvajva is going to be able to stand up to Fowlers speed and power, so I think Fowler will win by a quick knockout.

Natasha Jones V Monika Antonik

It was announced this week that Natasha Jones has turned professional and signed for Matchroom. She will be making her professional debut on Friday night. This is sure to be an exciting journey to watch, now she has joined the paid ranks I think most fight fans will want to see a rematch with Katie Taylor. However before all that she must get passed Monika Antonik.

Monika Antonik has had an awful start to her professional career winning only 1 of her 4 fights. In her last fight she lost to Nina Bradley on points on Nina’s professional debut.

I think Jones will win this one but I don’t think it will be by knockout because it’s her debut, she may want the knockout but you never no how nerves will affect her.

Marcus Morrison V Greg O’ Neill

Marcus Morrison comes into this fight with a record of 14-1 with 10 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6,4 of them by knockout. He will be looking to get his career back on track after losing last time out to Jason Welborn by unanimous decision

Greg O’ Neill comes into this fight with a record of 5-2 with only 1 knockout. He’s won 4 out of his last 6, only 1 of them by knockout. He’s done well to rebuild his career after suffering 2 back to back losses. In his last fight he beat Harry Matthews on points.
I think Morrison will go out with a point to prove, he’s going to want to prove to himself and the world that the loss to Wellborn was just a blip. So I can see him looking for an early knockout. However I think this fight will go all the way, but Morrison should win it.

Enjoy the fights and comment below and let me know your predictions.
