Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. This week we are in Belfast for a packed night of action. All the action is live on Sky Sports Main Event from 7.30pm.
Ryan Burnett V Zhanat Zhakiyanov
Ryan Burnett comes into this fight with an undefeated record of 17-0 with 9 knockouts he has won all of his last 6 fights, but none of them by knockout. This fight will be his 1st defence of his world title that he won by unanimous decision against Lee Haskins.
Zhanat Zhakiyanov comes into this fight with a record of 27-1 with 18 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout. This fight is also his first defence of his world title that he won by a split decision against Rau’shee Warren last time out.
In this fight we’ve got champion versus champion in a title unification fight. There is no question that Zhakiyanov has a lot more experience. I think this could be a close fight and I think this could go the distance and Burnett might just edge it if he gets off to a fast start.
Paul Hayland Jnr V Stephen Ormond
Paul Hayland comes into this fight with an unbeaten record of 16-0 with 6 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Adam Dingsdale with a 1st round knockout.
Stephen Ormond comes into this fight with a record of 24-4 with 13 knockouts. He’s not been on the best run of form recently only winning 4 out of his last 6 fights, only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost by unanimous decision to Craig Evans so he will be looking to get his career back on track.
Although Stephen Ormond has more experience compared to Paul Hayland. However I think Hayland is the better boxer, and if he can use those boxing skills he should win on points or by stoppage in the late rounds.
James Tennyson V Darren Traynor
James Tennyson comes into this fight with a record of 19-2 with 15 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Ryan Doyle with a 6th round stoppage.
Darren Traynor comes into this fight with a record of 14-1 with 6 knockouts. He’s also won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 2 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Jamie Quinn on points.
This fight could be a difficult one to call on paper because we have two fighters both with similar records and fighting styles. I think the judges will be needed for this one but their styles should gel well. Whoever wins it should put them in the world title picture as this fight is for the WBA International title.
Anthony Fowler V Laszlo Fazekas
Anthony Fowler will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career as he comes into this fight with a record of 3-0, all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Jay Byrne with a 4th round knockout
Laszlo Fazekas comes into this fight with a record of 31-27-1 with 18 knockouts. He has only won 3 out of his last 6 fights, none of them by knockout. He did manage a win in his last fight with a split decision victory over Zoltan Kispal to win the Hungarian title.
This should be an easy win for Fowler, however Fazekas should be able to take him a few rounds which at this stage of his career is what he really needs. If Fowler keeps going the way he’s going I can see him fighting for a British title by the middle of next year.
Also on the bill:
Josh Kelly will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career on Saturday night, however at the time of writing this preview his opponent had not been confirmed.
