Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. This week The Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle hosts a pack night of action, here’s my fight night preview of all the action. All the action is live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm.
Kris George V Josh Kelly
This fight is for the Welterweight Commonwealth title, this fight will be Kris George’s second defence of his title and he comes into this fight with a record of 14-1 with 8 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he knocked out Maximiliano Leonel Scalzone in the opening round.
This fight will be Josh Kelly’s first shot at a major title and he comes into this fight with a perfect record of 6-0 with 4 knockouts. He has made an impressive start to his professional career out classing all of his opponents, but this will be his biggest test to date.
This could be a very exciting fight to watch although George is the more experienced of the two, Kelly had a very successful amateur career culminating in representing team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics. I think that if Kelly can stick to his boxing and uses his movement he should win it on points.
Lewis Ritson V Paul Hyland Jr
This is a fight that I’ve been excited about since it was announced, this will be Lewis Ritson’s 3rd defence of his British title, and he comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 15-0 with 9 knockouts. He has knocked out all of his last 6 opponents. In his last fight he knocked out Scott Cardle in the 2nd round to retain his title.
Paul Hyland also comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 18-0 with 7 knockouts. He has knocked out 3 of his last 6 opponents. In his last fight he knocked out David Birmingham in the 4th round.
This is the kind of fight that boxing fans love because we’ve got 2 undefeated fighters fighting for a title which can only mean one thing somebody’s 0 has to go. I think Ritson will come out looking to be on the front foot and control the ring if he can do that I can see him scoring the knockout in the middle rounds. However if he comes out the same way he did against Cardle I can see him getting out box by Hyland. This one is a real 50-50 fight it could also be fight of the night.
Gavin McDonnell V Stuart Hall
Gavin McDonnell comes into this fight with a record of 19-1-2 with 5 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights, but only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he won a unanimous decision over Gamal Yafai.
Former world champion Stuart Hall comes into this fight with a record of 21-6-2 with 7 knockouts. Although his recent form has not been the best as he has only won 4 out of his last 6 fights none of them by knockout. In his last fight many people thought it would be the end of the road for him as he lost a unanimous decision to Paul Butler.
This one is going to be one for the boxing purists among us because both men are quality boxers, and neither of them carry knockout power. This fight could also be a make or break fight for both men, because whoever wins will go into the world title mix but I’m struggling to see were the loser goes from here.
Charlie Edwards V Anthony Nelson
Charlie Edwards comes into this fight with a record of 12-1 with 5 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, but only 2 of them by knockout. In his last fight he knocked out Ricky Little in the very first round.
Anthony Nelson comes into this fight with a record of 12-1 with only 2 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights but only 1 by knockout. In his last fight he won on points over Simas Voloinas.
This could be another fight that goes the distance as nether man are a big puncher. I think you have to make Edwards favourite because he has fought at a slightly higher level.
Arfan Iqbal V Simon Vallily
Aran Iqbal comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 12-0 with 5 knockouts. He’s knocked out 3, out of his last 6 opponents. In his last fight he knocked out Wadi Camacho in the 4th round to win the English title.
Simon Valliy comes into this fight with a record of 13-1 with 4 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he knocked out Blaise Mendouo in the 4th round.
I think this fight could come down to who makes the better start,I can see their styles gelling well but I can still see it going the distance with Iqbal coming out on top.
I hope you enjoy the fights and don’t forget to comment below and let me know your predictions.
