Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time this week we are up in Newcastle, for an action packed night of boxing. All the action will be live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm
Lewis Ritson V Francisco Patera
This fight is for the vacant European title, Lewis Ritson comes into this fight with a perfect professional record of 17-0 with 11 knockouts. He’s knocked out all of his last 6 opponents, in his last fight he knocked out an overmatched Oscar Amador in the 3rd round back in September.
Francisco Patera comes into this title fight with a record of 19-3 with 7 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights. Last time out he won a unanimous decision over Ruben Gouveia to set up this title fight.
You have to make Ritson favourite for this he’s a power puncher to both head and body. When you take into account that he’s topping the bill in front of his hometown crowd I think he’s going to go out looking to put on a show and make a statement. So I can see him going looking for the knockout early. However Patera is a very good boxer but I think the only chance he’s got of winning is to keep the fight at range and to stay away from Ritson’s right hand.
Robbie Davis Jr V Glenn Foot
This fight is for both the British and Commonwealth titles, Robbie Davis comes into this title fight with a record of 16-1 with 12 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he got a knockout victory over Michal Syrowatka with a 12th round stoppage.
Glenn Foot comes into this fight with a record of 23-3 with 7 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights but only 1 of those wins came by knockout. In his last fight he won on points over Sam Omidi.
On paper this fight looks like your classic boxer v the puncher, if Davis can stay on the front foot and land his power punches then I can see him winning by stoppage in the middle to late rounds. However if Foot can stick to his boxing and work off the jab then I can see it going the distance with Foot winning it on points. The problem with this fight is whoever loses I’m not sure where they go from here because they’re both the wrong side of 30 so it could be a make or break fight for both men.
Joshua Buatsi V Tony Averlant
Joshua Buatsi will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career as he comes into this fight with a record of 7-0 with 5 knockouts. He’s knocked out 4 of his last 6 opponents. In his last fight he knocked out Andrejs Pokumeiko in the opening round to win the WBA international title.
Tony Averlant comes into this fight with a record of 26-10-2 with only 5 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights although none of those wins came by knockout. In his last fight he was stopped in the 7th round by the undefeated Anthony Yarde.
This could be a good fight for Buatsi Averlant should be able to take him a few rounds however in the end I can see him getting the knockout by the middle rounds. Although Buatsi is a very talented boxer so it would be useful to see him take a step up to someone who can give him a fight. He was a very successful amateur and he’s made the perfect start to his professional career but the opponents he’s fighting at the moment are glorified sparring sessions.
David Allen V Samir Nebo
David Allen comes into this fight with a record of 14-4-2 with 11 knockouts. He’s only won 3 of his last 6 fights with 2 losses and 1 draw, however all 3 of his wins came by knockout. In his last fight he was losing against Nick Webb before out of nowhere he produced a stunning 1 punch knockout to win the fight in the 4th round.
Samir Nebo comes into this fight with a record of 10-2-1 all of his wins have come by knockout. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights with all of his wins coming by knockout . In his last fight he was knocked out by Tom Schwarz in the 4th round.
This is not going to be a fight of finesse it’s going to be old fashion heavyweight fight 2 big punchers and whoever lands clean first wins. If David Allen wants his career to go to the next level he’s going to need to make a statement and get rid of Nebo in style.
Simon Vallily V Craig Glover
Simon Vallily comes into this fight with a record of 13-1-1 with only 4 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights with 2 knockouts and1 loss and 1 draw. Last time out he was held to a controversial draw in his fight with Arfan Iqbal for the English title if he’s victorious on Saturday I’m sure we will see a rematch of that one down the line.
Craig Glover comes into this fight with a record of 8-1 with 7 knockouts. He has knocked out all of his last 6 opponents. In his last fight he knocked out Kevin Williams in the opening round.
This could be a real 50/50 fight Vallily maybe the more experienced of the pair but Glover carries more power. If Glover can make a fast start then he might get the stoppage in the early rounds. If the stoppage doesn’t come then I can see Vallily boxing his way home and winning on points.
