Fight Night Preview 13th October 2017

fight night, preview

Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. It’s a busy week in the world of boxing with two big nights of action from both sides of the pond, but we start this week at the home of boxing The York Hall Bethnal Green for another Nxtgen show. All the action is live on Sky Sports Action from 8pm.

Jason Cunningham V Reece Bellotti

Jason Cunningham comes into this fight with a record of 23-3 with only 6 knockouts. He has been on a good run of form recently winning all of his last 6 fights but none of them by knockout. This fight will be his first defence of his British and Commonwealth titles since he won them in a fight against Ben Jones earlier this year as his last fight was a win in a 6 rounder against Jay Carney.

Reece Bellotti comes into this fight with an undefeated record of 10-0 with 9 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Jamie Speight with an 8th round knockout to set up this title fight.

I think that if Cunningham can out box Bellotti he should win it on points as I don’t think he’s got the power to score a knockout. However if Bellotti can stay on the front foot and make a quick start, he should be able to score the stoppage in the middle to late rounds.

Harlem Eubank V Georgie Wright

Harlem Eubank will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career after winning on his debut last time out. I think with the move to Matchroom his career will go from strength to strength.

Georgie Wright comes into this fight with a record of 4-3 with no knockouts. He’s got a 50-50 record recently losing 3 out of his last 6. He is also coming off of back to back defeats.

Unfortunately I can only see one winner in this one I think Wright has been brought in at short notice to just give Eubank a workout, I don’t think it’s going to be a fight I think it’s going to be a glorified sparring session.

Charlie Edwards V Pablo Narvaez

Charlie Edwards comes into this fight with a record of 10-1 with 4 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights, 2 of them by knockout, the only loss on his record was against John Riel Casimero for the world title. In his last fight he beat Iain Butcher by unanimous decision to win the British title, but this fight is a none title fight.

Pablo Narvaez comes into this fight with a record of 8-4-6 with only 1 knockout. He’s only won 2 of his last 6 fights with 2 losses and 2 draws. In his last fight he lost to Ernesto Lrias by a split decision. This fight will be his first fight outside of Nicaragua.

I have to be honest I don’t really understand the reasoning behind making this fight because you’ve got a former world title challenger and the current British champion fighting a journeyman no disrespect to Narvaez, surely it would be better if he was to defend his title or fight someone in the top 10. I think Edwards will win this one easily on points or by late stoppage.

Natasha Jonas V Mariana Gulyas

Natasha Jonas will be looking to continue her perfect start to her professional career when she steps into the ring on Friday night. She has won both of her first two fights both by stoppage.

Mariana Gulyas comes into this fight with a record of 14-26 with only 2 knockouts. She’s only won 1 of her last 6 fights, none of them by knockout. She’s also coming off back to back defeats.

I think Jonas will win this one by knockout. I think the only reason they took this fight is to give Jonas more experience, and get some rounds in her legs. I know most boxing fans would love to see a rematch between her and Katie Taylor but at the moment they are both at different points in their careers

Enjoy the fights and comment below and let me know your predictions.
