fight night, preview
Ok fight fans it’s that time again fight night preview time. This week the O2 will host a truly historic night of boxing, with no less than 3 world title fights on the bill all the action is live on Sky Sports Box Office from 6pm.

Gennady Golovkin v Kell Brook

There is really only one place to start and that is with this much anticipated fight between two undefeated fighters so we all know what that means somebody 0 has to go!

Gennady Golovkin is widely believed to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world today. He comes into this fight with a record of 35-0 with 32 Knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 by knockout, in his last fight he beat Dominic Wade with a second round knockout.

Now normally at this point you would hear me say something like this is his first fight away from home, but not in this case Golovkin is used to fighting away from home in front of a hostile crowd however this will be his first fight in the Uk.

Kell Brook also comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 32-0 with 25 knockouts he has won all of his last 6 5 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat a very overmatched Kevin Bizier with a second round knockout.

Recently Kell has come in for a lot of criticism from boxing fans for hand picking his opponents, but what you have to remember is Kell is a world champion and both of his last two fights were mandatory defences. You have to give Kell credit for taking this fight for a number of reasons first he’s fighting the best fighter in the world, he’s stepping up two weight devisions and its his first fight at middleweight. A lot of people have been asking why is Kell going up in weight I believe there are two main reasons the first been he’s been struggling to make welterweight for the past few year so middleweight should suit him better. The second reason is there are bigger and better fights at middleweight.

I think this is going to be a much more competitive fight then a lot of people are predicting. Yes Kell is going in as a big underdog, but he will have the home fans behind him. Golovkin has more experience at the weight, and there’s no questioning his punching power.  However I believe that if Kell can maintain his hand speed and power at this new weight we could be looking at a fight of the year candidate. Whoever wins I think it will be by knockout in the late rounds.

Lee Haskins v Stuart Hall

This fight is a rematch for the world title from 2012 in that fight Lee Haskins won by unanimous decision, so you have to believe that Stuart Hall will be out to avenge the loss.

Lee Haskins goes into this fight with a record of 33-3 with 14 knockouts, he has won all of his last 6      but only 2 of them by knockout in his last fight he beat Ivan Morales by unanimous decision back in May to retain his title.

Stuart Hall is a former world champion and he goes into this fight with a record of 20-4-2 with 7 knockouts. In his last fight he beat Rodrigo Guerrero with a unanimous decision which has set up this rematch with Haskins. However his resent form as been a bit hit and miss he has only won 4 out of his last 6, none of them by knockout.

I think this is going to be a tough hard fight for both men based on the first fight I think Haskins might just edge it on points or by late stoppage. Whoever wins it should be a good fight to watch.

Callum Smith v Norbert Nemesapati

Callum Smith comes into this fight with a record of 20-0 with 15 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 4 of them by knockout, in his last fight he beat a game Cesar Hernan Reynoso with a 6 round knockout.

Norbert Nemsapati comes into this fight with a record of 21-3 with 16 knockouts  he has won 5 out of his last 6 but only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost to Umar Salamov on a unanimous decision. One thing that may help him is the fact that he is no stranger to having to fight a away from home, as he has fought all over the world.

On paper this looks like it could be a close fight because they’ve both got similar records but Smith has fought at a much higher level than Nemsapati, so I think Smith will win early. You also have to ask the question and I mean this with no disrespect to Nemsapati but is he just a keep warm fight when you take into account that Smith is scheduled to fight on the October show in Liverpool.

John Riel Casimero v Charlie Edwards

John Riel Casimero comes into this fight with a record of 22-3 with 14 knockouts. His won 5 out of his last 6 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Amnat Ruenroeng with a 4th round knockout in their rematch. He is also used to fighting a away from home because he has fought all over the world.

Charlie Edwards goes into this fight undefeated with a record of 8-0 with 3  knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 but only 1 by knockout. In his last fight he beat the journeyman Jose Aguila with a unanimous decision. Now you have to give him credit taking a world title fight in only his 9th fight.

John Riel Casimero goes into the fight a big favourite as he has fought at a much higher level. However the good thing about boxing is you never know what’s going to happen, and I am sure Charlie’s team wouldn’t have made the fight if they didn’t think he could win. I think if Charlie does win it will be great a result for British boxing. I think whoever wins it will be on points

Martin J Ward v Andy Townend

Martin J Ward goes into this fight undefeated with a record of 14-0-2 with 7 knockouts his won 5 out of his last 6 with 1 draw.  In his last fight he beat Ruddy Encarnacion with a unanimous decision.

Andy Townend goes into this fight with a record of 16-3 with 11 Knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Craig Poxton with a 1st round knockout.

This should be a good domestic fight between two young and hungry fighters, I think Ward will win on points.

Also on the bill we have Paul Smith looking to continue his comeback with a 6 rounder. We also have young Conor Benn looking to continue his impressive start to his professional career in a 4 rounder.
