Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time, this week we are in the fighting city of Belfast for a packed night of action. All the action is live on Sky Sports 2 from 8pm.
Lee Haskins V Ryan Burnett
We start this week with Lee Haskins 3rd defence of his world title, and he comes into this fight with a record of 34-3 with 14 knockouts. He has been in a very impressive run of form recently winning all of his last 6 fights but only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he out fought a game Stuart Hall to win by unanimous decision.
This fight will be Ryan Burnett’s first shot at a world title and the 25 year old comes into this fight with an unbeaten record of 16-0 with 9 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6 but like Haskins he has only won 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Joseafat Reyes on points.
On paper this should be a very good and competitive fight, however you have to ask the question has this opportunity come to early for Burnett? As this is a big step up for him and he’s never fought anyone at world level. I can see this fight going long as nether men seems to have a knockout punch, so I think Haskins will retain his title on points but I think it will be a close fight.
Paul Hyland Jr V Adam Dingsdale
Paul Hyland will be looking to continue his perfect record of 15-0 with 5 knockouts. He has won all of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Peter Cope on points back in March. This is shaping up to be a busy couple of months for him as he is scheduled to fight again in October.
Adam Dingsdale comes into this fight with a record of 16-3-1 with 4 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, but none of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Luka Leskovic on points.
Unfortunately I can only see this fight going one way and that is a Paul Hyland victory, however I think it will go long as he is not a big puncher. Whoever wins it should move them up the IBF rankings as this fight will be sanctioned by the IBF.
James Tennyson V Ryan Doyle
James Tennyson comes into this fight with a record of 18-2 with 14 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Declan Geraghty with a 6th round Knockout to win the Irish title. This could also be a busy few months for him as he is also scheduled to be on the same bill as Paul Hyland in October.
Ryan Doyle comes into this fight with a record of 14-1-1 with 8 knockouts. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout, with 1 draw. In his last fight he beat Tamas Laska via stoppage.
This fight has the potential to be fight of the night as we have two fighters with similar records. I think Doyle might just edge it on points or by late stoppage but it should be a good fight to watch.
Mark Perez will also be on the bill but at the time of writing this preview his opponent had not been confirmed.
