Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again fight night preview time. This week we are in the boxing capital of the world Las Vegas for a packed night of action. All the action is live on Sky Sports Main Event from 3.20 am Sunday morning.
Tevin Farmer V Kenichi Ogawa
This fight is for the vacant IBF title and Tevin Farmer comes into this his first shot at a world title with a record of 25-4-1 with 5 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, but only 1 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Arturo Santos Reyes by unanimous decision.
This is also Kenichi Ogawa’s first shot at a world title, it is also his first fight outside of Japan and you never know how that will affect a fighter. He comes into this fight with a record of 22-1 with 17 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 fights, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Hirotsgu Yamamoto with a 2nd round knockout
This fight could be a difficult one to call because we’ve got one boxer who is not a big puncher but he’s got very good boxing skills, and we’ve got a boxer with good boxing skills and knockout power. I think if Farmer can get his jab working and use his boxing skills then he will win on points. However if Ogawa can start landing power shots I think he will win by late stoppage.
Francisco Vargas V Stephen Smith
Francisco Vargas comes into this fight with a record of 23-1-2 with 17 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights all of them by knockout with 1 loss and 1 draw. In his last fight he was stopped in the 11th round by Miguel Berchelt.
Stephen Smith comes into this fight with a record of 25-3 with 15 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by knockout both of his losses have come in world title fights. In his last fight he beat Karoly Gallovich with a 1st round knockout.
On paper this one could be fight of the night because we’ve got 2 boxers that need a win to get their careers back on track. I think this fight is going to come down to who makes the better start and can put rounds in the bank early. Both men have got punching power so I can’t see it going the distance. Whoever wins it should put them back in the world title hunt. In my opinion this could be a career defining fight for both men, because whoever loses it’s difficult to see where they go from here.
Orlando Salido V Miguel Roman
Orlando Salido comes into this fight with a record of 44-13-4 with 31 knockouts. He’s won 3 out of his last 6 fights, 2 of them by knockout, with 1 loss and 2 draws. In his last fight he beat Aristides Perez with a 7th round stoppage.
Miguel Roman comes into this fight with a record of 57-12 with 44 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6 fights, all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Nery Saguilan with a 12th round stoppage.
This could be a really good one to watch and looking at their records it’s not going to go the distance, I think it could come down to who lands clean first. However if I had to pick a winner I would go for Roman although there shouldn’t be much in it.
Enjoy the fights and comment below and let me know your predictions.
Look forward to reading your review, good luck to Steven Smith cheers Chris.
