Fight Night Preview 10th December 2016

David Price,World Championship
Ok fight fans it’s that time of the week again. This week we are in the fighting city of Manchester for a pack night of championship boxing with no less than 2 world titles and 2 British title fights on the bill. All the action is live on Sky Box Office from 5pm here’s my preview of all the action

Anthony Joshua V Eric Molina

There is only one place to start and that is with Anthony Joshua’s 2nd defence of his world title. Joshua comes into this fight undefeated having beaten all of his 17 opponents by knockout. In his last fight he beat the highly rated American  Dominic Breazeale with a 7th round knockout .

Eric Molina comes into this fight with a record 25-3 with 19 knockouts; He has won 5 out of his last 6 all of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Tomasz Adamek with a 10th round knockout, to become the number one challenger for Joshua’s title. This fight is his first in the UK, however he has fought away from home before.

Many people are making Joshua the favourite for this one but Molina is a good fighter and a former world title challenger. I do think Joshua will win this fight but I also believe that Molina has the ability to take Joshua to places his never been before. One thing’s for sure the judges shouldn’t be needed for this one.

Dillian Whyte V Dereck Chisora

Dillian Whyte comes into this fight with a record of 19-1 with 15 knockouts. He’s done well to rebuild his career after losing to Anthony Joshua at the end of last year. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Ian Lewison with a 10th round stoppage.

Dereck Chisora comes into this fight with a record of 26-6 with 18 knockouts. He has won 5 out of His last 6,4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Darazan Janjanin with a 2nd round knockout.

There has been a lot of bad blood between these two in the build up to this fight, and I think that will affect the quality of the fight. Many people think this could be a fight of the year candidate and on paper it could. I think it’s more likely to be a boring over hyped fight with both men just looking for that one knockout shot.  This fight should have been for the British title but after the two came to blows at the press conference the board of control has decided not to put the title on the line.

Luis Concepcion V Kal Yafai

Luis Concepcion comes into this fight with a record of 35-6 with 24 knockouts. He’s won 5 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Kohei Kono by unanimous decision to win the world title.

Kal Yafai comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 20-0 with 14 knockouts.  He’s won all of his last 6, 5 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat Johnson Tellez with a 3rd round knockout, to set up his first shot at a world title.

This fight could be a real 50/50 but I think Yafai might just edge it with the more powerful punches  and the fact that he is a big Super Flyweight.

Callum Smith V Luke Blackledge

Callum Smith comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 21-0 with 16 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6, 5 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Norbert Nemsapati with a 6th round stoppage.

Luke Blackledge comes into this fight with a record of 22-2-2 with 7 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6 but only 1 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat Elvis Dube on points.

I think this fight is a big step up for Blackledge as he has never faced anybody the calibre of Smith. So I think Smith will knockout Blackledge early.  If Smith does win this one and wins it well surely the next stop will be the world title.

Luis Ortiz V David Allen

Luis Ortiz comes into this fight with a record of 26-0 with 22 knockouts and 2 no contests. He has won 5 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. In his last fight he was involved in the most boring fight I have ever seen as he won a unanimous decision over Malik Scott.

David Allen comes into this fight with a record of 9-1-1 with 6 knockouts.  However he has only won 4 out of his last 6,2 of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost a unanimous decision to Dillian Whyte

If Ortiz fights the same kind of fight he did last time out it could be a very long night for the fans, whoever wins it will probably be on points.

Hosea Burton V Frank Buglioni

Hosea Burton comes into this fight undefeated with a record of 18-0 with 9 knockouts. He’s won all of his last 6,4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he beat Fernando Castaneda with a 3rd round knockout.

Frank Buglioni comes into this fight with a record of 18-2-1 with 14 knockouts. He’s won 4 out of his last 6, 3 of them by knockout. His still trying to rebuild his career after losing his world title last year.

I think this fight is too big of a step up for Burton and I think Buglioni will win it early.

Scott Quigg V Jose Cayetano

This fight will be Quigg’s first time back in the ring since he lost his world title to Carl Frampton earlier this year. So he comes into this fight with a record of 31-1-2 with 23 knockouts. His won 5 out of his last 6, 4 of them by knockout. In his last fight he lost his world title and broke his jaw against Carl Frampton.

Jose Cayetano comes into this fight with a record of 20-4 with 9 knockouts his won 4 out of his last 6 but only 2 of them by knockout.  In his last fight he beat Alexis Santiago with a unanimous decision.

I think Quigg will look to shake off some ring rust before scoring a knockout in the middle rounds.

Conor Benn V Steven Blackhouse

Conor Benn will be looking to continue his perfect start to his professional career when he takes on Steve Blackhouse. Blackhouse comes into this fight with a record of 1-4-1 with 1 knockout

I understand that Benn is young a needs experience but it would be nice to see him in the ring against someone who can fight back. This should be another easy night for Benn.

Katie Taylor V Viviane Obenauf

After her impressive debut last month she will be looking to continue to impress when she takes on tough Brazilian Viviane Obenauf. If she fights like she did last month I don’t think there’s a woman or a man for that matter that can stop her.

Enjoy the fights and comment below and let me know your predictions.
